Skirting the Grave A Vintage Magic Mystery Annette Blair Books
I have to say, I wish there was twenty more novels in my TBR in this series. Alas, I'm up to date. I seem to really like the books set in Mystick, CT. I wish there had been more of our Dante in this edition but, honestly, it was filled with so much activity of the mysterious type that there simply wasn't extra room.Among the deliciously described clothes of vintage 1950's, which I enjoyed due to having only been a baby/child during the time frame, bringing back memories of Car-Hops, and seething romantic situations, there were confusions, murders, mysterious phone calls and more! And, the Handbags. Oh my!
My hands are tied in trying to write this review as I do not want to be a 'spoiler.'
So, allow me to say, "Cloked in Malice" can not be published soon enough for me!

Skirting the Grave A Vintage Magic Mystery Annette Blair Books Reviews
Very much a character driven story chocked full of delightful and interesting folk. I'm in love with the whole town and it's one big family atmosphere. The mystery is well done with lots of humor. A quick read that satisfies.
love this series
As is the case with all of Annette Blair's books, I read it in one sitting relishing every exciting sentence and facinating character. Annette has a way of telling a story that keeps your attention. She has a way of describing the vintage fashion that makes me long to go and shop at Maddie's. The description of the pile of lucite box purses in the first chapter was like a vintage purse fantasy.
I usually can figure out the mystery pretty early but this one was impossible. I LOVED the ending and you will too. Annette Blair makes her characters into people you know or want to know. Another thing about Ms Blair's books I am guaranteed to laugh so hard that family members have to come and check on me. Skirting the Grave was no exception. Keep writing Annette, I can barely wait for the next one!
I really enjoyed this book
I have liked all of Annette Blairs books. You learn so much about the history of fashion and how it seems to make a full circle. What I wore 50 years ago is so in style now. I like reading mysteries that do not dwell on the gruesome but on the clues. All of her friends, including her cat, just add to the plot of the book. It is just a nice easy read that makes me feel good at the end
A good cozy paranormal and romance that has some strange twists. Madeira's sister Brandy has talked her into hiring an intern for her carriage shop. When Mad goes to meet her there is a dead woman whose identity is that of her new intern, Isobel.
Isobel turns up alive that evening. The plot is creative and different as there are twins and cousin involve. The love triangle took away from the plot as it became the focal point of story instead of the mystery.
I have read the first three in the series and was excited for the fourth. I really did love the fourth book and could hardly put it down. However, I gave it only 4 stars for a few reasons. There wasn't quite enough involvment around the mystery. The book mostly focused on the main character's personal/love life. The cat was only mentioned a few times as well as my favorite part of these books, the ghost, Dante. I would like to see Dante become a bigger character in the books, more-so like he was in the first two. Otherwise, this is a great series and a must read.
